Zoning out
Before we begin: What effortless relaxation exists for fragmented moments—like waiting in line or commuting—that satisfies:① No energy cost ② Feasible instantly ③ Fills blank time meaningfully?
Our efficiency-obsessed society mutates us: Lives accelerate, patience thins, stimulation cravings intensify. We binge on multi-sensory overload (shows+music+games) yet remain unsatisfied. Leisure time becomes a battleground where "productive" tasks and hyper-entertainment compete—both demanding we assign purpose to purposelessness.
We're losing daydreaming. This exhibition rejects "pacifier distractions," advocating slowness to heal our sensory awareness. Central question: Does actively creating blank space hold meaning?
My response: A wind-based way-finding system.
▸ Wind flow physically guides visitors
▸ Pausing to sense it sharpens awareness
▸ Naturally slows behavior
▸ Curiosity-driven interaction simplifies translation between body/environment
